OVERVIEW OF TOUR

Ha Giang Loop – Cao Bang Loop 5 Days 4 Nights Easy Rider Tour

Most travelers come to northern Vietnam with one destination in mind: the Ha Giang Loop. After three or four incredible days, they return home believing they have experienced the country’s greatest mountain adventure.

Most never realize the journey could have continued.

East of Ha Giang, another world quietly unfolds. The crowds begin to disappear. The roads become even more peaceful. Towering limestone mountains give way to hidden valleys, ancient villages, emerald rivers, mysterious caves, and finally one of Asia’s most spectacular waterfalls. It isn’t another tour—it’s the natural continuation of the adventure most travelers never take.

The Ha Giang Loop – Cao Bang 5 Days 4 Night Easy Rider Tour connects two legendary destinations into one unforgettable journey across northern Vietnam. Instead of rushing from one famous attraction to another, every day allows you to see the landscape transform. One morning you’re standing above the clouds at Ma Pi Leng Pass. A few hours later you’re drifting through the emerald waters of the Nho Que River beneath the immense cliffs of Tu San Canyon. Days later, long before Ban Gioc Waterfall comes into view, you begin to hear its powerful roar echoing through the valley. Those are the moments that remain long after the photographs have been forgotten.

Traveling with a professional Easy Rider means the road becomes part of the experience rather than something you need to worry about. Every winding pass, every hidden village, every local meal, every conversation with ethnic communities becomes another chapter in the journey. Instead of concentrating on riding, you have the freedom to absorb everything happening around you—to slow down, look further, and truly experience northern Vietnam.

Thousands of travelers complete the Ha Giang Loop every year. Only a small number continue beyond it into Cao Bang. Those who do often return with the same conclusion: the journey only felt complete after experiencing both. To learn more about Vietnam’s official tourism information, you can visit the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

Before you explore the itinerary below, ask yourself one simple question.

If you’ve already traveled all the way to Ha Giang, why stop before discovering what lies beyond?

Perhaps the most unforgettable part of northern Vietnam isn’t where the Ha Giang Loop ends.

Perhaps it’s where the next adventure begins.

Ha Giang - Quan Ba - Yen Minh - Dong Van (150km)

Your adventure begins at the Ha Giang Top Travel Office, where you’ll meet your Easy Rider, receive a short safety briefing, and prepare for the journey ahead. As the motorcycles leave the city behind, the roads gradually begin to climb, the air becomes noticeably cooler, and the towering limestone mountains slowly replace the busy streets. It doesn’t take long before you realise this is no ordinary road trip—this is where northern Vietnam begins to reveal its true character.

The first challenge comes as you ascend the winding curves of Bac Sum Pass. Each corner opens another spectacular mountain panorama, while fresh air and endless green valleys welcome you deeper into Ha Giang. Reaching Quan Ba Heaven Gate, you’ll pause above a sea of limestone peaks stretching far beyond the horizon. Below, the famous Quan Ba Twin Mountains rise gracefully from the valley, creating one of the region’s most iconic landscapes and the perfect beginning to your adventure.

The journey continues along the peaceful mountain roads of Can Ty Pass, where dramatic cliffs, terraced hillsides, and quiet ethnic villages create scenery that changes with every kilometre. After enjoying a delicious local lunch in Yen Minh, you’ll ride deeper into the UNESCO Global Geopark, where every winding road seems to lead toward another unforgettable view.

During the afternoon, the legendary hairpin bends of Tham Ma Pass provide one of the day’s most exciting moments. The road twists effortlessly through towering limestone mountains, offering breathtaking viewpoints that invite you to stop, breathe deeply, and simply admire the landscape. With an experienced Easy Rider handling every curve, you’re free to enjoy the journey, capture incredible photographs, and absorb the beauty surrounding you.

Before arriving in Dong Van, you’ll visit the remarkable Hmong King’s Palace, a magnificent stone residence hidden among the mountains. Once home to the influential Vuong family, the palace offers a fascinating glimpse into the history, culture, and resilience of the Hmong people who have called these mountains home for generations.

As evening falls, you arrive in Dong Van Ancient Town, where centuries-old stone houses glow beneath warm lantern light. After a traditional local dinner, the ancient streets come alive with travellers from around the world sharing stories of the day, while the peaceful atmosphere reminds you that this is only the beginning. Tomorrow, the road climbs even higher, leading toward the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass and the emerald waters of the Nho Que River.

Dong Van - Ma Pi Leng - Nho Que - Meo Vac (60km)

After breakfast in Dong Van, the journey continues toward what many travelers consider the most spectacular day of the entire adventure. Although today’s distance is only around 60 kilometers, every kilometer is filled with breathtaking scenery that invites you to slow down, stop often, and simply admire the extraordinary beauty surrounding you.

Leaving Dong Van behind, the road begins to climb gently before revealing the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass, widely regarded as the most magnificent mountain pass in Vietnam. Riding along the edge of towering limestone cliffs, you’ll find yourself surrounded by endless mountain ranges stretching far into the horizon. Every viewpoint offers a different perspective, making it difficult to put your camera away. Yet no photograph can truly capture the feeling of standing here, where the mountains, sky, and winding roads merge into one unforgettable panorama.

From Ma Pi Leng, the adventure continues down toward the emerald waters of the Nho Que River. Boarding a boat, you’ll drift quietly through the heart of Tu San Canyon, the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia. Massive limestone walls rise dramatically on both sides while the crystal-clear river reflects every shade of green and blue. As the boat glides silently through the canyon, conversations naturally fade away. Some moments are simply too beautiful for words.

After returning from the river, you’ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing toward Meo Vac, where the landscapes become quieter, the valleys broader, and the pace of life noticeably slower. Along the way, your Easy Rider will stop at hidden viewpoints known mostly to local riders, giving you opportunities to appreciate the untouched beauty that many visitors never experience.

By late afternoon, you arrive at Pa Vi Hmong Cultural Village, one of the most charming villages in the Dong Van Karst Plateau. Surrounded by mountains and traditional Hmong houses, the village offers a peaceful atmosphere that perfectly contrasts with the dramatic landscapes of the morning. After checking into your homestay, you’ll have time to walk through the village, meet local families, and learn more about the unique traditions that have been preserved here for generations.

As evening settles over Pa Vi, a delicious home-cooked dinner brings travelers together around one table. Stories, laughter, and cultural exchanges continue long into the night, reminding you that the Ha Giang Loop is not only about extraordinary landscapes, but also about the unforgettable people you meet along the way. Today may have covered the shortest distance of the tour, but it will almost certainly become one of the memories you’ll treasure the longest.

Meo Vac - Khau Vai - Niem Son - Bao Lac (150km)

Day 3 kicks off with a freshly prepared breakfast before continuing your unforgettable Ha Giang Loop and Cao Bang Loop adventure towards the peaceful mountain town of Bao Lac. Today’s journey offers a perfect balance between breathtaking mountain scenery, remote countryside roads, and authentic local life in the hidden valleys of Northern Vietnam.

As the road winds deeper into the mountains, travelers will pass through vast rice terraces, quiet rivers, and isolated ethnic villages surrounded by dramatic limestone peaks. Around Bao Lac town, the atmosphere becomes peaceful and untouched, offering a rare glimpse into traditional rural life. Watch local farmers tending buffaloes, working in the rice fields, and carrying out daily activities in the fertile valleys between the mountains. This section of the Cao Bang Loop Vietnam is known for its raw beauty and slow travel experience far away from crowded tourist routes.

The adventure continues with one of the most spectacular roads in the region — the legendary Khau Coc Cha Pass. Famous for its breathtaking 14-turn mountain road, this engineering masterpiece was carved directly into the cliffs and is considered one of the most impressive mountain passes in Vietnam. Riding through the winding switchbacks surrounded by towering rock walls creates an unforgettable highlight of the Northern Vietnam motorbike tour.

At the top of the pass, we will leave the bikes behind and take a short 30-minute hike to the highest viewpoint. From here, travelers can fully appreciate the incredible depth and scale of the mountain road below. The panoramic scenery of endless valleys, layered mountains, and twisting roads makes this one of the best photography locations on the Ha Giang Loop adventure.

After descending from the pass, the route continues through expansive rice fields bordered by uniquely shaped limestone cliffs and peaceful countryside landscapes. Along the way, enjoy the natural beauty of Lenin Spring and Karl Marx Mountain, historical landmarks surrounded by crystal-clear water, lush forests, and tranquil scenery that reflect both the natural and cultural heritage of the region.

As the sun begins to set, arrive at a traditional farm homestay located far from the noise of the city. Surrounded by rice fields, lakes, and rolling hills, this peaceful accommodation offers a perfect opportunity to relax and reconnect with nature. Enjoy a quiet family-style dinner featuring authentic local dishes, homemade rice wine, and warm hospitality from the local hosts.

Spend the evening enjoying the calm atmosphere of the countryside, listening to the sounds of nature, and watching the reflection of the mountains on the nearby lake. This unforgettable day combines mountain adventure, hidden landscapes, cultural encounters, and peaceful rural life, making it one of the most memorable sections of the Easy Rider Tour Vietnam.

Bao Lac - Quang Uyen - Khuoi Ky (110km)

Wake up to a peaceful breakfast surrounded by the fresh mountain air before continuing your unforgettable Ha Giang Loop and Cao Bang Loop adventure. Today’s journey takes you through some of the most spectacular natural landscapes in Northern Vietnam, combining waterfalls, mountain roads, hidden caves, and authentic ethnic villages far away from crowded tourist routes.

Our first destination is the world-famous Ban Gioc Waterfall, the largest waterfall in Asia located on an international border and one of the most iconic highlights of the Cao Bang Loop Vietnam. Surrounded by limestone mountains, rice fields, and crystal-clear water, Ban Gioc offers breathtaking scenery in every season. Travelers can walk close to the falls, take incredible photographs, and even wave to visitors standing on the Chinese side of the river. The peaceful atmosphere and dramatic landscape make this one of the most unforgettable stops on the entire Northern Vietnam motorbike tour.

After enjoying the beauty of Ban Gioc, the adventure continues towards the hidden Co La Waterfall. Smaller and quieter than Ban Gioc, this beautiful waterfall is surrounded by untouched nature and peaceful countryside scenery. Walk across the bridge and admire the fresh mountain water flowing gently through multiple rock levels while enjoying the calm atmosphere of rural Cao Bang.

From there, we continue riding through scenic mountain roads and peaceful ethnic villages before arriving at the impressive Nguom Ngao Cave. Hidden deep inside the limestone mountains, this natural wonder is famous for its massive underground chambers and spectacular stalactites formed over millions of years. The cool air, dramatic rock formations, and mysterious atmosphere make it one of the most fascinating cave systems in Vietnam.

In the late afternoon, we arrive at the ancient Khuoi Ky Stone Village, a traditional Tay ethnic village built entirely from local stone. Located beside the mountains and streams, the village offers a peaceful atmosphere and a rare opportunity to experience authentic local culture. Tonight’s homestay has been passed down through generations and is built into the mountainside near a natural cave.

Enjoy a traditional family-style dinner with local dishes, homemade rice wine, and warm hospitality from the local hosts. Relax beside the peaceful countryside scenery and experience the quiet beauty of rural Northern Vietnam after another unforgettable day on the Easy Rider Tour Vietnam.

Discover more scenic mountain roads through our Ha Giang Loop viewpoints guide and learn more about Vietnam’s natural attractions at Vietnam National Tourism.

Khuoi Ky - Trung Khanh - Ma Phuc - Cao Bang (100km)

The final morning begins quietly in Khuoi Ky Ancient Stone Village, where mist lingers gently above centuries-old stone houses and the mountains awaken with the first light of day. Although this is the last day of your adventure, the journey still has one unforgettable moment waiting ahead.

Leaving the village behind, the road winds through peaceful valleys toward the remarkable Dragon Eye Mountain. Rising dramatically above the surrounding landscape, its famous natural opening resembles the eye of a giant dragon watching over northern Vietnam. During the rainy season, the mountain is reflected in a tranquil emerald lake. In the dry season, wide grasslands stretch beneath towering limestone cliffs where horses, buffaloes, and cattle graze peacefully. The silence here feels almost timeless, offering one last opportunity to slow down and simply admire the beauty that northern Vietnam quietly reveals.

As the journey continues toward Cao Bang City, something begins to change. The mountains gradually disappear behind you, yet every pass, every river, every village, and every conversation from the past five days becomes part of a story you’ll carry long after returning home. The sea of clouds above Quan Ba. The endless cliffs of Ma Pi Leng. The emerald waters of the Nho Que River. The peaceful evening in Pa Vi. The breathtaking hairpin bends of Khau Coc Cha. The ancient stone village of Khuoi Ky. The magnificent Ban Gioc Waterfall. They no longer feel like separate destinations—they become one unforgettable journey.

By the time you arrive in Cao Bang City, you may realise something unexpected. The hardest part of this adventure was never riding the mountain roads. It was deciding to begin. Everything after that became a collection of moments that photographs can only partly preserve, but memories will keep forever.

As you board the bus back to Hanoi, the mountains slowly fade into the distance, but the feeling remains. Long after the roads have ended, you’ll still remember the fresh mountain air, the winding passes, the laughter shared with fellow travellers, and the quiet moments when northern Vietnam left you speechless.

Perhaps this journey is coming to an end.

Or perhaps it’s only the beginning of a story you’ll never stop telling.
